Unexplained UFO Sighting in Bend, Oregon: What Did I Witness?

An Unusual Bright Object Over Canal Row Park

On a clear evening at Canal Row Park in Bend, Oregon, I experienced something truly extraordinary. At approximately 6:10 PM, I noticed a bright light in the northeastern sky. It was high above the clouds, much higher than any commercial aircraft I’ve seen, and at first glance, it resembled a star or a distant satellite.

Observing an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon

The object appeared dim but had the high arc typical of a satellite’s trajectory. However, what caught my attention was its movement — it sped up quickly, shifting to my right relative to the stars behind it. Only a few stars were visible, making it a clear contrast to the steady stars in the background.

Suddenly, the object changed direction, zagging back toward the left. Its brightness increased dramatically, glowing with a white light that seemed to radiate, and it grew larger as it moved across the sky. After several more quick, erratic turns, it took off diagonally upward to the upper left of my position. During this ascent, the light turned red before the maneuver stopped unexpectedly, and the object faded away as if it was zooming out of sight.

I quickly checked my sky tracking app, expecting it to recognize a satellite or airplane. However, there was no match. The movement differed significantly from standard aircraft patterns, helicopter flight paths, or known satellite or drone behaviors. The object’s high speed, sudden maneuvers, and changing colors make it unlike typical aerial traffic.

While I believe there’s likely a logical explanation, I can’t quite figure out what I saw. Could this have been a genuine UFO encounter or a rare UAP sighting?
